The Mennello Museum of American Art offers educators tools to teach students about American Art and artists. Programs offered are guided tours, education trunks and Art in the Classroom. In addition, Family Days are held the second Sunday of every month at the museum and Art Camps are held at local Community Centers. The Cunningham Trunk is equipped with lesson plans, power point presentations, videos, books, maps, and additional research tools to share the work of Earl Cunningham and discover more about Florida's history. The Folk Art Trunk is a hands-on treasure chest filled with real Folk Art by artists such as Nelly Mae Rowe, Bessy Harvey, and Ernest Young. It includes a teacher's guide on Florida Folk Art and informational tools about the artists. This tool is available for use at the Museum during operating hours. Art in the Classroom is a new educational tool offered by the Museum staff. A trained docent will visit your classroom and present a 30 minute lesson on the Museums' current exhibition or the permanent collection artist, Earl Cunningham. Following the lesson is a short review and art activity. Docent guided tours, self guided audio tours and audio scripts are available for Grades 5 - 12. We also offer higher education tours for college students and seniors receiving continued education. Download an Earl Cunningham Activity Booklet for your next visit now! Please submit the forms to Genevieve Bernard at genevieve.bernard@cityoforlando.net. To help with teaching American Art to your students, we have made our guides, lesson plans and activities downloadable to create the optimal learning experience.
