Help make the 2014 Orlando Folk Festival happen!
We’re excited to be planning the 12th ANNUAL ORLANDO FOLK FESTIVAL, coming February 8 and 9, 2014 to the scenic grounds of The Mennello Museum of American Art in Orlando Loch Haven Park. Still the only festival of its kind in the Central Florida area, the Orlando Folk Festival draws approximately 6,000 visitors to the weekend celebration of art, music and traditional crafts.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and donors, the ORLANDO FOLK FESTIVAL has remained free and open to the public throughout its history. And we plan to do it again, but we need your help!
This year’s goal is to raise the necessary funds for the ORLANDO FOLK FESTIVAL through the new power2Give.org online donation program administered by United Arts of Central Florida. Power2Give.org replaces the program grants awarded in previous years to fund the festival by United Arts of Central Florida.
Simply go online to the ORLANDO FOLK FESTIVAL project on power2Give.org and make a donation in any amount. You can track the project as it grows toward completion.
The ORLANDO FOLK FESTIVAL features local and regional singers, songwriters and bands in a nonstop lineup on the stage that overlooks Lake Formosa. Experienced festival-goers bring their blankets to spread in front of the stage as well as picnic baskets and coolers. Dogs on leashes are also welcome to attend.
Dozens of artists and artisans are selected from around the country to feature their paintings, sculpture, ceramics, wood carvings, traditional crafts and other creations and inventions. We bring in food trucks and vendors to keep the crowd happy, and always order the best February weather!
As the ORLANDO FOLK FESTIVAL has grown over the years, so have the interactive activities in the Kids Corner, where paint and brushes, glue and glitter are always flying. For the third consecutive year, we’ll have an additional Friday Education Outreach Day geared toward the visiting schoolchildren we sponsor to attend from Fern Creek Elementary School.
During the 2014 festival, the Mennello Museum will have on display Southwestern Allure: The Art of the Santa Fe Art Colony. This traveling exhibition organized by the Boca Museum of Art explores the development of Santa Fe as an art colony through the artists who visited there, tracing the colony’s formative years from approximately 1915 up to 1940.
We’re looking forward to tying the traditions of the Southwest into the traditions of the ORLANDO FOLK FESTIVAL through music, art and other cultural entertainment. Won’t you be a part of the 12th annual Orlando Folk Festival?
